Biography

Powerhouse vocalist, classically-trained pianist, and soulful storyteller are only a few of the attributes of the dynamic artist Lydia René. Drawing inspiration from artists ranging from Jill Scott and Phyllis Hyman to the songwriter sensibilities of James Taylor and Carole King, Lydia René delivers a vocal presence that is both commanding and timeless.

As a New Jersey native currently based in Los Angeles, Lydia’s genre-bending sound is reminiscent of R&B, classic soul, traditional singer/songwriter, gospel, and jazz. Lydia's voice has become a powerful force in film, television, and national campaigns. She delivered a haunting rendition of the song “I Put A Spell On You” for the trailer of the box-office thriller The Perfect Guy (Sony), and her vocals have driven campaigns for other notable projects including Lady and the Tramp (Disney+), The Man in the High Castle (Amazon), Dave (FX), and Mrs. Davis (Peacock). . Lydia can also be heard providing lead and choir vocals for the teaser campaign of the film The Six Triple Eight (Netflix) — a film that became one of Netflix’s most watched releases and earned EMMY recognition.

Throughout her career, Lydia has shared stages and collaborated with global icons including John Legend, Cynthia Erivo, Don Toliver, T-Pain, Boyz II Men, LL Cool J, The Jonas Brothers, Michael Bolton, Lukas Graham, Gustavo Dudamel, Earth, Wind, and Fire, Ledisi, PJ Morton, Bobby Brown, El Debarge, ZEDD, Maren Morris, Natasha Beddingfield, Dave Grohl and many more.

She was the featured on-camera soloist in Chobani’s national commercial campaign performing the classic song “What The World Needs Now Is Love,” and she was prominently featured on camera singing in Walmart’s national “Who Knew” campaign.

Most recently, Lydia was a featured vocalist in the blockbuster film Sinners, lending her voice to both the film and its soundtrack as a member of The DC6 Singers Collective. The project went on to win two GRAMMY Awards, marking a defining milestone in her career and cementing her place as being a part of one of the most celebrated soundtracks of the year.

As a songwriter, Lydia has worked alongside elite producers and musicians whose credits include Aretha Franklin, Justin Timberlake, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Jay-Z, Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera and more.

Her discography includes her debut studio album Vintage Heart, the live project Lydia René: LIVE at The Troubadour, and her single “Leaving,” which was featured on BET’s Music Monday spotlight. Each release showcases her ability to fuse technical precision with raw emotional storytelling.
